Product Description
HX horizontal grinder is a dedicated equipment for biomass power plant for fuel reserve and MDF plant. Raw materials mainly consist of all kinds of trees, undersized log, timber felling residues (such as branch, twig, etc.), wood pallet, wood building template, and wood processing residues ( such as slab, batten, log core, building templates, etc.) and non-wood raw materials (such as waste of flax, reed, bamboo ,maize straw, cotton stalk, etc.).
Product Structure
The wood chipper is mainly composed of chassis, dead knife base, dead knife, chipping rod, rotor, main shaft, hammer or blade, upper feeding mechanism, below feeding mechanism, feeding device, discharge device, hydraulic system and electric control system.
Operating Instruction
Operating Procedures
1 After finish installation, inspect the below items before starting:
a. Check if blade and dead knife's fastening torque can meets the specification.
b. There is no metal, stones and other hard sundries in the machine.
c. No impact sound if pull belt pulley to rotate at least one round by hand.
d. Adjust triangle belt tension, not too loose or too tight, then install shield.
e. Electrical system ground lead is secure and reliable.
f. Hydraulic system joint seals well, no leakage.
g. Rotor and feed roller run in the right direction.
2 Boot sequence: firstly start the main motor, then start the discharging system motor, start the feeding system motor after rotor speed is stable, and then begin to feed. Shutoff sequence: firstly shut off feeding system motor, shut off the main motor after there is no material being crushed in the mainframe, shut off discharging system motor at last. The above order cannot be reversed.
3 Machine idle test inspecting items:
a. Check if there is abnormal sound or noise, if any, rule out in time
b. Bearing temperature rise shall not exceed 40 ºC, the highest temperature shall not exceed 80 ºC
c. Machine is without significant vibration, vibration intensity is no more than 11 mm/s; Fasteners are tight; Moving parts is flexible action, no jam phenomenon.
d. Electric and hydraulic function is accurate, sensitive
e. Limit switch and safety switch should be accurate and reliable
f. Duration of Idling test is not less than 1 h
4 Perform load test after idling test is passed and completed.
a. Output system is normal, no sign of choking.
b. Duration of load test is 4 to 8 hours;
Below items shall be inspected during the load test:
a. All items in the idling test.
b. Dead knife cutting edge without defection such as rolled edges, missing bit, cracks and etc.
c. Current of each motor does not exceed the rated data.
Then the machine can work well after passing the above test.

Remark: The above inspection frequency is only for the machine in good working condition. If something unexpected happened, please check the machine immediately.
Components Replacement
1 Change of blade
Disassembly of blades: After the machine completely stops, loosen the cover lid tightening screw, join cover lid and lifting arm with bolt, start the oil cylinder to lift up lifting arm and the cover lid, rotate the safety plate so that lifting arm is fixed sturdy, then cut off power supply, unscrew the fastening bolts, tapping slightly, then blades can be taken down.
Installation of blade:
a. Clean up the contact area for installing blades with compressed air or other effective methods carefully.
b. According to the sequence of disassembling blades, put back blades
c. Tighten blades fastening bolt with delivery attached torque dupler and torque spanner.
Blade sharpening: When blades need to be sharpened, need add cooling fluid, the weight deviation of two blades cannot exceed 25g.
2 Change of hammer
After the machine completely stops, the feed hopper stop rotation, loosen screw on the side, start the oil cylinder to flip over feed hopper and the cover, turn the insurance plate to support the feed hopper tightly, then cut off power supply, unscrew the fastening bolts, tapping slightly, then hammer can be taken down.
Installation of hammer
a. Clean up the contact area for installing hammers with compressed air or other effective methods carefully.
b. According to the sequence of disassembling hammer, put back hammers, guarantee the dynamic balance of the rotor.
c. Tighten the fastening bolt with delivery attached torque enhancer and torque wrench
Hammer repair: When welding repair the hammers, must add cooling fluid, the weight deviation cannot exceed 15g.
3 Change of dead knife
a. Loosen and take down the two clip keys or fastening screws which on the chassis.
b. Use dead knife disassembly tool or pull out the dead knife by hand directly.
c. Loosen the dead knife fastening bolt, take down the dead knife and change
Dead knife sharpening
There are 4 cutting edges for dead knife, can exchange the other side edge if one cutting edge is blunt. Sharpen the dead knife when all cutting edges are worn. When sharpening, must add coolant, and ensure the cutting edge angle.
4 Change of screen
a. lock the below 2 holes with the special rod.
b. Lock the 2 holes beside the feeding cover with suitable rod.
c. Remove the following screws
d. Use hydraulic to overturn the rotor cover
e. Change the screen
Hydraulic System
1 Hydraulic system function
1.1 Open the rotor upper cover to inspect, repair and replace the hammer.
1.2 Overturn the rotor cover to inspect, repair and replace the screen.
1.3 Pressure regulation
When need to increase pressure, open the cut-off valve, start-up oil pump supplies oil for the oil cylinder, when pressure reaches required valve, turn off the cut-off valve.
When need to reduce pressure, open the cut-off valve, change the oil pump switch to oil return position, oil cylinder pressure can be reduced.
2 Function of accumulator
a. Accumulator play the role of energy storage and reducing impact. When machine is on work, stop valve should be in off state. When the swing arm rises, accumulator will release oil into oil cylinder; When the swing arm falls, oil in the oil cylinder flows back to the accumulator. The leather bag of accumulator has a certain nitrogen pressure, so when oil inflows and outflows, nitrogen will have buffer effect and make the swing arm move smoothly without impact.
b. Accumulator can be disassembled only under the condition of the oil pressure runs out.
c.Adjust the upper feeding roller weight
Weights of upper feeding roller shall be adjusted according to different feeding materials. When handling large-sized material, weights of up feeding roller will be higher. When handling small-sized material, such as slab and waste slab, weights of up feeding roller will be lower.
3 Maintenance Requirements
The set pressure of hydraulic system is 16MPa. Do not change it casually. Hydraulic oil is 46# anti-wear hydraulic oil. When temperature exceeds 40ºC, suggest use 68# anti-wear hydraulic oil. In order to ensure hydraulic system works normally, please check it, clean the oil filter and air filter twice a month, also check whether the bolt of oil pump inlet and outlet is loose, whether O-type ring is damaged twice a month. Replace the O-type ring in time. Replace hydraulic oil once in three months. Inspect oil cylinder once a year to check whether oil cylinder leaks, whether sealing ring is damaged and replace it in time.
Sealing ring size for the system is 18 type compound gasket ( for oil cylinder), φ12×2.4 O-type ring andφ22×2.4 O-type ring.
Electric Control
1 Main motor protection
1.1 Main motor starts by soft start switch. There is overload protection device in circuit, which can shutdown circuit if overload.
1.2 When the main motor current exceeds rated value, and sustained a period of time, user should stop feeding, reverse feeding system, debug after materials drop out, start the feeding system, and then continue to feed.
1.3 Main motor shall not start continuously and frequently.
2 Reverse operation of feeding motor
When feeding motor needs to be inverted, must press the Machine Stop button first, then press Reverse button after feeding system stops. The process can also be realized by equipped wireless remoter.
3 Operation of oil pump rise and fall
When material is jammed in the feed inlet and can not feed any more, press the Hydraulic Lift button, raise the upper feeding roller, loose the Hydraulic Lift button, upper feeding roller will fall by gravity function.
4 Operation of breakdown reset
When frequency converter breaks down, Alarm indicator lights up. When breakdown is solved, press the Reset button, then frequency converter works normally.
5 Emergency stop operating
Press the Emergency button when the following situation arises:
- when there is iron block, stone etc such kind of foreign material enter the machine
-when there is abnormal noise, vibration which can not find the resource or solve in time.
-other emergency when can not shut down one by one.
After pressing the emergency button, all the motors will power failure and stop working. When resuming working, must switch the Emergency button to normal position.
6 Control cabinet
The control buttons are all installed on the electric control cabinet. Control buttons include Machine Start, Machine Stop, Feed In Start, Feed In Stop, Reverse, Discharge Start, Discharge Stop, Oil Pump Start, Reset, Emergency. Indicating instruments include voltage meter, ampere meter. Indicator lights include: Main Machine, Feed In, Reverse, Discharge, Oil Pump, Alarm.
7 How to use remoter?
After supplying power, press the Oil Pump Start button on the control cabinet, afterwards press the Start Button on the remoter, then remoter starts working. Remoter only control feeding. Remoter will not work after pressing the Emergency button on the control cabinet.
8 How to change the feeding speed?
Change the HZ of feeding conveyor can change the feeding speed. High speed produces large output, low speed produces small output.
Do not change them unless really necessary. The two HZ must be the same number
Product Features
1) Rotor rotation speed adjustable. According to the customer's specific requirements, the machine can be modified, such as adjusting the corresponding parts to change the rotation speed of the rotor, to meet the different requirements of customers on discharging granularity and production capacity.
2) Unique dead knife design. Thanks to the decades of experience, we create a special shock absorbing buffering dead knife design and already got the patent. This design protects the rotor, decreased the maintenance cost and extends the life span of the machine.
3) Forced auto feeding system. Start the oil pump, oil cylinder piston extend-retract, swing device rises or falls, then the upper feed roller adapt to the nature of feedstock automatically. This function enables the machine can adapt to wide range raw material and the feed process is more smooth. We got the patent for it.
4) Easy maintenance. Thanks to the hydraulic system, it is easy and convenient to open the machine cover to check or replace the cutter, screen mesh and so on.
5) Chain conveyor. The feeding chain conveyor is made of high manganese steel with the thickness 10mm, which is a typical anti-wear steel, cast organization is austenite and carbide. Via the water toughening treatment, the surface would be rapidly hardening and that make its internal remains the good toughness and deformability under the condition of strong impact and extrusion and the hardening layer with good wear resistance. These characteristics determine that the service life can be up to 22000 hours, which is better than the traditional belt's 2000 hours. In addition, the traditional belt' s with small friction coefficient which will cause the feed speed to be slow and not smooth, but the chain type solved all the above questions.
6) Perfect chain conveyor length. The length of the chain conveyor is matched with the machine running, which can achieve the best machine performance.
7) Dual control, One is fixed electrical cabinet and the other is remote control, that makes the operation more safe and convenient.
8) Automatically frequency conversion contorl for feeding system. Feed roller and chain conveyor can be adjusted automatically by the frequency conversion that makes the operation is safe and simple. According to the specification and quantity of raw materials, the feeding speed can be adjusted automatically to save energy and promote efficiency. It can adjust feed speed automatically according to the load of main motor to avoid idle running of machine.
9) Overload protection.The main motor starts by a soft start switch, and the circuit has an overload protection device, which automatically cuts off the circuit when overloaded.
10) Interlocking control of feed system and avoid feeding plugging. During normal operation, feeding motors and chain conveyor motor work simultaneously. Once there is a plugging, feed system stop feeding, two feeding motors and chain conveyor reverse together.
When feeding too much material, the main motor current increases, the frequency of frequency converter will decrease, rotation speed of two feeding motors will slow down, feeding volume will decrease. When main motor current decreases to a certain value, the frequency of frequency converter wil increase, two feeding motors rotation speed will speed up, feed rate will increase.
This control process is realized by equipped wireless remote control.
11) Pulley secured by inner hole locking device. Easy to assemble and disassemble. No the traditional violent assemble and disassemble. Protect the main motor. This makes easy to maintain the main and prolong the life span of the main motor.
